Product Description:

PH-Buffer, an improved blend of thermoplastic micronized resin and acid, is designed to control pH drift in offset ink systems.

Application:

PH-Buffer offers increased solubility and stability to the user, compared with conventional acid buffer systems. The powder can be added directly into a finished ink without milling. PH-Buffer will lower the pH of the ink which will prevent bleeding and water logging on an offset press, without changing or adversely affecting the original tack level of the ink. PH-Buffer has been found to be especially effective with bleed-prone pigments such as Lithol Rubine and BON Reds when used at 1 to 3% addition levels, based upon total formula weight.

To determine if the ink requires PH-Buffer, perform the following test: Run a standard water pick up test and determine the pH of the water or fountain solution before and after the water pick up test. The pH of the decant water should not increase more than 1.0 pH point. If the increase noted is greater than 1.0 unit, add PH-Buffer to the ink.
